We were made aware that at around 2pm today on Nolloth Crescent, Beverley, a male was knocking on doors and informing residents he was from the council. The male, aged between 40 and 50, dark hair wearing dark clothes and not looking official, was asking if he could check their boiler. When caller informed him he would check with the council, he walked off. Council stated there was not anybody in the area checking boilers. Please be aware that scammers will use a distraction technique and may not be operating alone. Always ask for identification and check telephone numbers if in doubt. Do not let anyone in your house or gave any bank details. If they are persistent tell them you will call the police. |
